Tiger Shroff's "A Flying Jatt" is crawling at the domestic box office. Despite getting released on a partial holiday, the superhero film has not quite performed up to the mark.
"A Flying Jatt" has collected Rs. 2 crore (approx) on the first Wednesday, taking its first week domestic box office collection to Rs. 35.95 crore. The 7-day box office collection of the Remo D'Souza-directed venture is clearly not good enough.
"A Flying Jatt" raked in Rs. 7.10 crore on day 1, but the numbers witnessed a dip on Friday as it was a working day. However, on Saturday and Sunday the film performed decently, and posted an opening weekend total of Rs. 29.45 crore. The figures fell considerably on Monday to Rs. 2.50 crore and Tuesday (Rs. 2 crore.)
"A Flying Jatt" is far from beating the lifetime earnings of Tiger's first two films and the gap isn't narrowing down. "Heropanti" and "Baaghi" made Rs. 52.92 crore and Rs. 76.34 crore at the Indian box office, respectively.
What may have affected "A Flying Jatt" box office performance and what are the challenges awaiting the film?
The strong hold of "Rustom" on week 3 definitely impacted Tiger's film. Also, lukewarm reviews and mostly negative word-of-mouth publicity has affected the domestic business of "A Flying Jatt."
However, several trade experts pointed out that kids are enjoying the film, which means family audience is coming to its rescue. But with Sonakshi Sinha's "Akira" being released on Sept. 2, "A Flying Jatt" will be left with limited screens and shows.
However, amid all this, the one feat that the Tiger, Jacqueline Fernandez-starrer has been able to achieve is securing a spot in the Highest Opening Weekend Grosser 2016 list, along with "Sultan" and "Rustom," among others.
