"The Flash" has a history of altering the characteristics of its comic book characters to incorporate a better representation of all genders and ethnicity. This time round, they are doing it to the villainous Dr Light form the CD comics.
It has been confirmed that the character will make an appearance in the upcoming season 2 of "The Flash" and that Dr Light would be a woman, unlike in the comic. Dr Light was once mentioned by Cisco (Carlos Valdos) and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) in the backdoor episode for "The Flash" in "Arrow".
They had used the "he" pronoun referring to the character in season 2 episode 19 titled "The Man Under the Hood". He was described as a former employee of S.T.A.R. Labs, who built a weapon to produce energy blasts. Dr Wells (Tom Cavanaugh) had fired him after fearing mental instability.

Since the new Dr Light who will appear in "The Flash" season 2 is a woman, the most popular theory is that she could be wife of Arthur. Kimiyo Hoshi, wife of Arthur Light according to the "Trinity War" events from the New 52 re-launch of DC Comics, is therefore expected to be Dr Light in the series.
Although she is a very powerful superhero, her presence is felt only in the multiverse story-lines. As Barry (Grant Gustin) opened a wormhole, making it possible for him to travel through multiple universes, it would be the perfect time to introduce Kimiyo. Other new additions to "The Flash" team are Wally West aka Kid Flash (Keniyan Lonsdale), Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears) and Patty Spivot (Shantel VanSanten).

The freshman series, in which Megalyn Echikunwoke voices the titular "Vixen", will premiere on Tuesday, 25 August.
