Hollywood movie "Jurassic World" had a dream run in its opening weekend in Chennai. Surprisingly, it has beaten Tamil movies like "Romeo Juliet" and "Inimey Ippadithaan" in the first weekend.
"Jurassic World" made a stunning business of ₹93.96 lakh in just three days, reports Behindwoods. The movie ran into packed houses and dominated multiplexes in the opening weekend at the Chennai box office.
The Hollywood flick had 168 shows in three days and the movie was enjoyed mainly by family audience and youths. Indeed, it has surpassed the collection of Kamal Haasan's "Uttama Villain", which had earned ₹85.39 lakh in two days. But, we should note the movie was delayed by a day, hence, it could make only the aforementioned business.
On the other end, Jayam Ravi starrer "Romeo Juliet" has also got a great opening. The Tamil film has made ₹72.76 lakh from 159 shows in the first weekend in Chennai. This is the best opening for a Ravi movie in recent years.
Some of Jayam Ravi's recent movies have not performed well at the Chennai box office. "Romeo Juliet" has garnered positive reviews and we should wait and see how it will perform in the coming days.
Other Tamil release "Inimey Ippadithaan" has got an average opening in Chennai. From 141 shows, it has earned ₹44.65 lakh. This film too has got fairly positive reviews. The weekdays will be crucial for the movie and the good run of "Jurassic World" might have some impact on the business of both Santhanam starrer and Jayam Ravi's film.
While "Romeo Juliet" is a romantic comedy movie, "Inimey Ippadithaan" is a comedy flick.
Other movies like "Kaaka Muttai", "Demonte Colony" and "Massu Engira Masilamani" had a decent weekend. "Kaaka Muttai" has emerged as s surprise winner at the Chennai box office.
