A day before the official unveiling of the much anticipated Honda BR-V compact SUV at the 2015 GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show), the pictures of the vehicle have surfaced online. Folks at Indonesian website autonetzmag.com captured the pictures of the compact SUV.
The spy pictures indicate Honda has been honest with the previously-released sketch image. The design of the face is exactly the same as the sketch image and is dominated by the thick single chrome slat. We have seen this kind of grill in Honda City.
The prominent grill is flanked by the projector headlamps. The fog lamps have got chrome housing and a wide air dam at the front. The side profile shows the body cladding and the pictures also indicate bigger ground clearance, underlining the off-road ability of BR-V. The BR-V has an athletic design and beefed up wheel arches.
The door panels resemble the Mobilio MPV. In fact, there is a high possibility of both the vehicles using the same door panel to keep the cost minimum. Additionally, BR-V features chrome door handles and silver roof rails.
There is no concrete information on the platform, which is reportedly based on Brio Hatchback, Amaze sedan and the Mobilio MPV.
BR-V is expected to be powered by the same and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that develops 100PS and 200Nm of torque that also powers other Honda cars in India. It is expected to be launched around early 2016.
