The first Bentley Bentayga rolled out of the assembly line at Bentley's headquarters in Crewe, UK on 27 November (Friday). The British brand took four years from the concept stage to the production of its first SUV, which will be delivered to customers starting January 2016.
The first Bentayga, finished in Anthracite colour was handcrafted for over 130 hours. During the assembling process, the car passed through a new body store, a new paint shop and a new assembly line developed for the SUV production.
The new assembly line in the coming days will manufacture the first edition of Bentayga's limited to 608 units out of which, one SUV will be gifted to the British royal family.
"Bentley Bentayga will be the benchmark against which all other SUVs are measured, defining a new segment – the luxury SUV," said Wolfgang Durheimer, Chairman and Chief Executive of Bentley Motors.
Bentley Motors unveiled the Bentayga SUV on 9 September. Bentley claims the Bentayga to be the fastest, most powerful, most luxurious and most exclusive SUV that offers a true Bentley driving experience and showcases innovative technology features.
The SUV rides on the MLB Evo platform that underpins the second generation of the Audi Q7. An all-new twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine is at the heart of the new Bentayga. The 12-cylinder unit develops 600bhp and a mammoth 900Nm delivering a 0-100kmph time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 301kmph.
