The otherwise funny hero, Paul Rudd, looks effortlessly impressive in his new avatar as the super-strong crime fighter 'Ant-Man'. The first trailer for Marvel's 'Ant-Man' was shown 6 January during the premiere of ABC's 'Agent Carter' and is now available online on the digital media.
Marvel and Walt Disney kick-started the official 'Ant Man' marketing campaign with the release of a poster, a trailer and also by allowing Entertainment Weekly to feature the zoomed-in image of a full-size 'Ant Man', portrayed by 'I Love You Man' star Paul Rudd.
Directed by Peyton Reed, Paul Rudd plays Scott Lang and Michael Douglas is scientist Hank Pym. Pym suggests Lang, a reformed thief, take over as 'Ant man' and use his criminal skills in saving the world from Darren Cross, played by Corey Stoll. Cross somehow manages to get his hands on Pym's Yellowjacket suit, which is wasp-inspired.
In the trailer, we see Douglas' character trying to convince Lang into assuming the role of the microscopic superhero. "Scott, I need you to be the Ant-Man," says Pym.
Lang responds by saying: "One question, is it too late to change the name?"
Pym's shrinking technology gives Ant-Man his power. Evangeline Lilly plays Pym's daughter Hope Van Dyne in the superhero film. However, it is not clear if Hope will take on her mother Janet Van Dyne's superhero character – the Wasp.
'Ant-Man' will be the 12th film involving Marvel superheroes. The comic-book movie franchise was launched in 2008 with 'Iron Man', which featured Robert Downey Jr. as the superhero.
Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer and Michael Peña are also part of the 'Ant Man' cast.
The movie will hit the theatres 17 July, 2015 and will be the first follow-up to 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron'.
