Twelve people were rescued from a blaze which ripped through a hotel in west London. More than 70 firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze at the four-storey Rushmore Hotel and a block of flats on Trebovir Road.

The whole of the second floor of the hotel was damaged, as well as three quarters of the third floor and all of the roof.

Around 150 people were evacuated from the buildings before firefighters arrived.

A total of 10 fire engines from Kensington, Fulham, Paddington, Battersea, North Kensington, Hammersmith and Chelsea and 72 firefighters attended the blaze which was eventually put out in the early hours of 6 June.

London Ambulance Service was at the scene. There were no reported injuries.

London Fire Brigade station manager Winston Douglas said: This was a serious fire and crews and worked very hard to stop the fire spreading. An investigation is underway to determine to cause of the fire.
