A massive fire broke out in Kolkata's Hatibagan market in the wee hours of Thursday, destroying a large number of shops. No casualties were reported.
Following the incident, about 30 fire fighters were pressed into service to put out the fire.
The fire was first noticed around 2:30 am. People who were trapped inside the market were rescued by the fire fighters.
The Rapid Action Force had also arrived at the spot. The reason behind the fire accident in the market that was established in 1945 remains unknown. However, authorities speculate that the unmaintained wiring might have caused the fire.
