An FIR has been filed against the Shahi Imam of Tipu Sultan mosque, Maulana Nurur Rehman Barkati on May 10 in the Topsia police station of West Bengal after he refused to discontinue the usage of red-beacon and also threatened to wage 'jihad' in the country.
The Shahi Imam on Tuesday in an interview with the news channels refused to discontinue to use the red beacon as the permission for it was granted by the erstwhile "British Government."
When the reporters clarified that it was the British government and not the Indian government who had passed the order, Imam Barkati said, "The Indian government first needs to make its own law, they have not formulated any laws."
He even claimed that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee gave him the permission to use it.
Invoking religion
He even invoked religion and said that if namaz, azaan, Quran and Shariat law are banned in India then jihad will begin.
"Why would this nation be a 'Hindu Rashtra', why can't it be a 'Muslim Rashtra'. Why can't the 25-30 crore Muslim population of India be given Pakistan, we will fight for Pakistan," Imam Barkati said.
"If 'Hindu Rashtra' becomes a reality and azaan, cow meat, Quran are prohibited, then we will not spare you and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he warned.
He even pointed out how Jihad will affect India, In jihad everything will be finished, as it is happening in Afghanistan and across the world," adding that "we have been practising jihad for the last 100 years."
Anti BJP stand
Imam Barkati, also took a dig at BJP stand said, "I don't know about any Trinamool Congress leader owning any kind of expensive properties. I have not even seen Sudip owning any kind of expensive properties."
He even accused the BJP government of being corrupt and accusing the innocent. "I don't have any problem with CPI(M) and Congress, but anyone from Bharatiya Janata Party coming here would not be treated well, instead would be beaten," warned Barkati.
"I challenge the RSS to stop being eunuchs and be brave enough to fight like men. The Indian law gives biased judgements, and especially when the justice is demanded from the Muslim community," he added.
Triple talaq will not go
Barkati even said that triple talaq has been followed since ages and is a religious process. According to him, triple talaq had never been a problem and cannot change in any possible way.
Imam Barkati had also issued a fatwa against PM Modi for his decision to demonetise old Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes.
