Akshay Kumar's "Housefull 3" is unstoppable at the box office, which is why it wouldn't be surprising if the makers wanted to extend the franchise. On the sidelines of the film's success party, the actor gave his fans some news they can cherish.
There's a "Housefull 4" in the making, BollywoodLife reported. Although the developments of it are being kept under wraps, just the possibility of a fourth film is a big a deal for fans of the franchise.
The multi-starrer has so far raked in an impressive Rs. 74.88 crore at the domestic box office.
A few days ago, there were reports how the film will surpass collections of Salman Khan's "Ready" to become the highest earning comic caper. "Housefull 3" is also being compared to Amitabh Bachchan's "Namak Halal" (in terms of money).
"'Namak Halal' is another successful comedy, which comes to mind. "Housefull 3" may well become the new comedy benchmark from now on," a source told Mumbai Mirror.
The critics may have hurled brickbats at the film, but viewers have loved every bit of the insane comedy (which also explains the box office figures). Akshay is glad that the audience has given it so much love, but also says how challenging it was to play a character with Dissociative Identity Disorder.
On hearing the trigger word "Indian," Akshay's Sandy, a tame footballer, turns into Sundi, who runs around like a headless chicken with one purpose in mind – to ruin Sandy's life.
Directed by Sajid-Farhad, "Housefull 3" also stars Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Lisa Haydon, Nargis Fakhri, Boman Irani and Jackie Shroff in key roles.
