Many netizens found the uniform in poor taste as the overcoat looked like inner wears. Social media users lampooned the school authorities and parents for allowing their kids to wear the said uniform. However, the authorities have decided to change the controversial overcoat in the wake of a social media outrage.
An official statement by the PTA executives Sabu Poondikulam and Johnson Cheruvallil of the institution reads: "It is decided to remove the small jacket from the uniform of girls from Std I to X. For girls of Classes VI to C a new overcoat will be provided from the school. In the meantime, they are allowed to use the old uniform."
However, after the photo went viral on social media, few regional newspapers had carried reports quoting the school's principal, who claimed the picture is photoshopped. Following this, Boss Eapen, who took the photo posted an explanation saying he had used photoshop only to blur the faces of the students.
