Germany progressed to the finals of the 2014 World Cup after registering a record 7-1 victory over hosts Brazil at the Estadio Mineirão, Belo Horizonte.
Braces from Toni Kroos and Andre Schurrle coupled with strikes from Thomas Muller, Miroslav Klose and Sami Khedira proved too much, as Brazil were only able to grab a last minute consolation through Oscar.
The match started with Germany taking the lead in the 11th minute through Muller, who volleyed home from close range after losing his marker inside the box.
The Germans continued to mount pressure on the hosts defence, and their efforts were soon rewarded in the 23rd minute as they doubled their lead through Klose, who set a new record for highest goal tally in the World Cup by netting his sixteenth goal after collecting a pass from Kroos.
Minutes later Germany scored their third goal of the game through Kroos, who fired home from the edge of the box after collecting an excellent pass from Philipp Lahm.
Before Brazil could catch their breath, Kross went and grabbed Germany's fourth goal of the night after combining well with Khedira, who had got the ball after dispossessing Fernandinho.
Things went from bad to worse for the hosts after Germany netted their fifth goal at the half hour mark through Khedira. Mesut Ozil's excellent pass forced Julio Cesar to come off his line and Khedira easily slotted the ball past the Brazilian goalkeeper.
Luiz Felipe Scolari made some changes – Paulinho and Ramires replaced Fernandinho and Hulk respectively – in an attempt to stop the opponents' dominance, but the Germans scored yet another goal through their own substitute Andre Schurrle, who grabbed his side's sixth goal after latching on to a cross from Lahm.
Just when it looked like Brazil had hit rock bottom, Germany grabbed their seventh goal in the 79th minute through Schurrle, who, after getting past David Luiz, fired an effort that went in off the crossbar.
Finally, Brazil grabbed a consolation right at the death through Oscar, who slotted the ball past Neuer after breaking free of his markers.
