Brazil eased into the last sixteen of the 2014 World, after topping Group A following a comfortable 4-1 win against Cameroon in their final fixture at the Estádio Nacional de Brasilia.
A brace Neymar coupled with second half strikes from Fred and Fernandinho proved to be too much for Cameroon, who were only able to get a consolation through Joel Matip.
The Brazilians struck early in the 18th minute, when a cross from Luiz Gustavo found Neymar, who made no mistakes as he directed the ball past Cameroon goalkeeper Charles Itandje.
However, the hosts' celebrations were soon cut short after Joel Matip, whose earlier effort had thundered against the crossbar, found the leveller in the 26th minute. Allan Nyom, after losing his marker, sent in a low cross from the left into the box and Matip found the nets with a close range tap in.
Cameroon's joy was also very short-lived as Brazil went in front through another Neymar striker after only eight minutes. After being played in from the left through Marcelo, the Barcelona striker dribbled past two Cameroon defender before calmly slotting a low effort past Itandje.
The second half was also all about Brazil as Fred scored their third goal of the evening in the 49th minute. A poor clearance from the Cameroon defence was picked up by Neymar, who sent a pass to David Luiz on the left side of the box. Finally the defender whipped a cross into the centre of the box towards Fred, who found the nets with a close range header.
With six minutes remaining, Fernandinho added the finishing touches by grabbing Brazil fourth goal of the evening. The goal again resulted due to some very poor defending from the Cameroonians. A poor pass from a Cameroon defender was intercepted by Fernandinho and the midfielder found the nets following some excellent interplay between him and Oscar.
