Italian auto-maker Fiat will be phasing out its current Punto model in India, says report.
Punto will be replaced by the upcoming Punto Evo, which is slated for launch in the first week of August; Rushlane reported citing a company source.
The production of the current Punto model has already stopped in the country and the company has cleared the outgoing model stock by giving a discounts upto ₹50,000, according to the report.
Fiat will be launching its new Punto facelift on 5 August in India.
Though the pricing details of the car is yet to be known, the dealers of the company have reportedly commenced the bookings with an advance payment of ₹25,000. It is expected to get a price tag ranging from ₹5 lakh to ₹7 lakh.
From what is known so far, vehicle will reach the domestic market in four trims - Active, Dynamic, Emotion and Sport.
Punto Evo will get the same powerplant of its current model. Under the hood, the diesel model of the car will pack the 1.3 litre Multijet diesel engine, which can churn out a power of 75 bhp and a torque of 197 Nm.
Meanwhile, the petrol model of the facelift will get power from 1.2 and 1.4 litre engine, which can generate a power of 68 bhp-96 Nm and 90 bhp-115 Nm respectively. All the engines will come coupled to 5-speed manual transmission.
Talking of the features and design, the car is likely to feature a new front fascia with honeycomb grille, which is similar to the one seen in the Avventura and is expected to get black interior with centre console, air-con vents and dashboard lifted from the 2014 Linea.
When launched, the car will rival Volkswagen Polo facelift, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and Tata Bolt in India.
Punto Evo will come in seven body paints - Glitterati Gold, Magnesio Grey (the one in the top image), Exotica Red, Minimal Grey, Hip-Hop Black, Vocal White, and Tuscan White.
