Fiat India Automobiles has started shipping Punto Abarth to its dealers in the country. The folks at Indian Autos Blog have shared the pictures of the model at dealerships, indicating that the launch of the new hatch can happen any time.
Dealers have started accepting bookings for Punto Abarth with a down payment of Rs 20,000.
Likely to be priced at around Rs 10 lakh, Punto Abarth will remain almost the same as the current Punto Evo in the market, except for minor tweaks like contrasting wing mirrors, 'T-Jet' badge on the bootlid and side body decals.
The hot hatch will also get fabric upholstery with contrast stitching in red and yellow and sportier steel pedals.
Under the hood, Punto Abarth will pack a 1.4-litre T-JET turbocharged petrol engine that can churn out 145bhp power at 6,000rpm, 200Nm torque at 1,750rpm, and mated to a five-speed gearbox.
The powerful hatch is likely to clock 0-100kmph in eight seconds.
