Italian automobile giant Fiat has unveiled the much-awaited mid-size sedan Linea T-Jet in India with a price tag starting at ₹7.60 lakh.
Fiat Group Automobiles India, which markets two models in the country, brought the powerful version of Linea T-Jet on Monday. It hopes to gain new tractions in the market with the relaunch of Linea T-Jet. The car packs 1.4 litre 1368 cc, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which churns out peak power outputs of 112.5 bhp at 5,000 rpm and 207 Nm of torque at 2,200 rpm. The drivetrain of the vehicle is mated with a five-speed manual transmission system.
Two variants of the vehicle, which were launched in the country are Dynamic and Emotion. While the base variant Dynamic is price at ₹7.60 lakhs, the top variant is priced ₹8.40 lakhs. Oncars India, which believed to have got the first look of all new Fiat Linea, reported that "Fiat has made no changes to the new Linea T-Jet, however the 2013 model comes with same set of updates as the standard Linea. Standard features now include automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers and audio system with remote."
Having a market share of just 0.3 percent in India, Fiat's performance in the Indian auto market has been poor. The company is one of the first western carmakers to enter into the world's seventh largest car market.
Fiat with its new launches in the country targets to enlarge its market share to 1 percent by the end of 2013 and to 5 percent in the long run.
