The car sales in India surged 21.80% for the month of October, said the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
Automakers sold 1,94,158 units of cars in India last month, up from 1,59,408 units in October 2014, according to SIAM data. The motorcycle sales also witnessed a jump to 10,65,856 units from 10,08,761 units last year, posting a growth of 5.66%. The commercial vehicles also posted an increase to 58,596 units in October.
The domestic auto market witnessed a wonderful festive season sales as the major players in the country posted strong performances. In October, Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker had posted 29.1% increase in its total sales at 1,34,209 units as against 1,03,973 units in the same month last year.
Hyundai India also registered a growth of 23.7% in October with a sale of 47,015 units. The auto majors like Honda, Ford and Mahindra also posted a surge in sales for the month of October. While the sales of Ford increased by 57%, Honda and Mahindra witnessed a growth of 67% and 20% respectively.
