Luxury sports car maker Ferrari launched California T, which is priced at Rs 3.45 crore (ex-showroom), as part of the brand's comeback model in India. California T is the most affordable Ferrari to be sold in India along with the entire line-up of cars, except the limited production LaFerrari hybrid car.
First among the new generation of turbo-powered Ferrari cars, California T is powered by a 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 552bhp at 7500rpm and 755Nm of torque at 4,750rpm, mated to a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. The car runs from standstill to 100kmph in just 3.6 seconds before hitting the top speed of 315kmph.
The launch also marks the re-entry of the iconic Italian sports car maker to the country. Ferrari had tied up with the Shreyans Group in 2011 as its sole distributors. The tie-up ended abruptly leading Ferrari to break ties with the Shreyans Group, leaving its customers in the lurch.
Ferrari has planned to initially open two dealerships, one in Mumbai and the other Delhi. The Select Cars Pvt. Ltd in Delhi and Navnit Motors Pvt.Ltd. in Mumbai are currently in the process of setting up new showrooms even while accepting bookings. The company will also extend after-sales services to existing Ferrari owners from these outlets.
