Italian supercar manufacturer Ferrari is all set to launch the 488 GTB sportscar in India on Feb. 17 (Wednesday) in New Delhi. Aurelien Sauvard, international sales director, Ferrari Middle East & Africa, and Yadur Kapur, director, Select Cars Private Limited, which has Ferrari's dealership, will be present at the venue, the Financial Express reported on Feb. 16.
The 488 GTB is the first all-new forced induction model coming out of Maranello after the legendary F40 sport scar, production of which was stopped in 1996. Though the company launched California T in 2014 with turbo engine, the model wasn't an all new product. The 488 moniker points to each cylinder's cubic capacity, 488cc (3902cc divided by 8 cylinders). The GTB, which stands for Gran Turismo Berlinetta, pays homage to the several iconic models from Ferrari.
The 488 GTB is powered by a 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that develops 661bhp at 8,000rom and 760Nm of torque at 3,000rpm. The engine is mated to automated manual dual-clutch seven-speed F1 gearbox. The 488 GTB is able to achieve 0-100kmph in just 3.0 seconds and comes with top speed of over 330kmph.
Ferrari officially entered into the Indian markets in last August with the launch of California T, which is priced at Rs 3.45 crore (ex-showroom). The company opened dealerships in New Delhi and Mumbai. Ferrari India had previously announced a price tag of Rs 3.99 crore for 488 GTB, but whether the car would be launched with the same price remains to be seen.
