The Federation Cup, one of the prestigious competitions in Indian football, is scheduled to start on Sunday in Cuttack, Orissa. Call it the Indian version of the FA Cup (English league) or the Copa del Rey (Spanish league).
A total of eight teams -- grouped in two pools of four-teams each -- are participating in the Indian football competition, scheduled to take place for just about two weeks. The top two sides from each group will make it to the knockouts phase.
While the likes of Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan and East Bengal, along with Bengaluru FC might be called as seasoned campaigners of the competition, one particular football side -- Chennai City FC -- will be making their debut in the Federation Cup 2017.
I-League champions Aizawl FC, meanwhile, are again referred to as the dark horses.
