If you are a biking enthusiast in India, the month of September will bring you a lot of joy. Emerging reports claim that at least three foreign bike brands are planning to start operations in India by next month.
The brands in question are FB Mondial, SWM and Norton Motorcycles. All three brands will start India sales in the hands of Kinetic Group's premium motorcycle division Motoroyale, which currently sells MG Agusta bikes in the country.
Among the three brands, British motorcycle marque Norton Motorcycles had already announced India plans in November 2017. Norton has forged a joint venture with Kinetic Group and the duo is expected to launch the Commando 961 Sport, Commando 961 Cafe Racer, Dominator Sport and the DomiRacer in a phased manner starting next month.
Norton Motorcycles has also stated that the development of Asia-specific 650cc twin-cylinder motorcycle will be launched in Europe by the end of the year. This 650cc motorcycle range will be launched in India soon after the global unveiling.
SWM
SWM Motorcycles is not a known name in the two-wheeler industry. They started with small capacity Enduro, Motocross and off-road motorcycles in the 1970s and 1980s. Multiple reports claim SuperDual is the first motorcycle coming from the brand SWM to India.
The SuperDual is a dual purpose bike clearly targeted to capitalize growing adventure bike interest in the country. The motorcycle is powered by a four-stroke, single-cylinder 600cc engine.
FB Mondial
FB Mondial is yet another lesser-known motorcycle brand from Italy. A 125cc scrambler model of the brand christened FB Mondial HPS 125 was spotted in Pune last year while there was no news after that. A report in Autocar claims that FB Mondial first model in India will be the HPS 300 which is styled in a blend of a cafe racer and scrambler.
FB Mondial HPS 300 will be powered by a 249cc, liquid-cooled motor. The single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine produces 25hp at 9,000rpm and peak torque of 22Nm arrives at 7,000rpm. The engine will come mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle is expected to be priced around Rs 3 lakh.
