Reports were that Fawad Khan would join the cast of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Padmavati" and would be paired opposite Deepika Padukone in the film. However, these reports are false.
Sources close to Sanjay have clarified that Fawad was in talks with the director's next production venture and not "Padmavati." The makers are yet to lock the cast of the third lead.
"Fawad was never considered, let alone offered, Rani Padmavati. He was briefly considered for another project that Sanjay Bhansali was to produce, though not direct. As for Rani Padmavati two of the three principal cast members — Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone — have already been locked in. The third is yet to be confirmed. It will be done next week," Deccan Chronicle quoted the source as saying.
Reports suggest that Sanjay has finalised the rumoured couple Ranveer and Deepika in the lead role, but the directors or actors have not made any official announcement regarding the same. Ranveer will reportedly play the role of ruler Allauddin Khilzi and Deepika will be seen as the queen of Chittor Rani Padmavati. The third male lead will play the role of Deepika's (Rani Padmavati) husband King Ratan Singh of Chittor.
Before Fawad, names of Bollywood's biggies, including Shahid Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan emerged for the role of King Ratan Singh of Chittor, but nothing has been finalised yet. Even Vicky Kaushal's name for the role of King Ratan Singh was doing the rounds, but reports said that Deepika did not want to romance him.
However, Sanjay has said that he will make an announcement regarding the cast soon. "I keep hearing announcements of my own film's cast. Names that I've never considered let alone met, are being thrown around. I've been busy recording the songs. Now the cast will be finalised and announced soon," Sanjay told the daily.
