Handsome hunk Fawad Khan recently joined Karan Johar's "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" cast to shoot for his special appearance sequence.

The director tweeted a picture of Fawad and Ranbir Kapoor with the caption: "Fawad Khan joins the cast of #AeDilHaiMushkil...an extremely "special" role in our film!! Amazing energy on set!"

Earlier, there were reports that Fawad will play Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's love interest in the film, but no confirmation with regard to this has been made yet.

However, one thing is confirmed -- Fawad will be appearing on the silver screen with Ranbir, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya in "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil".

After "Bombay Velvet", Ranbir and Anushka will be seen on the big screen again with Karan's film.

Karan, who is set to direct a film after three years, is working with Aishwarya for the first time.

While the shooting has begun, Aishwarya is yet to join the team. Ranbir, Anushka and Karan have started shooting for the flick in London.

Currently, the crew is in Paris, where Fawad has joined the team. After this schedule, they will fly off to Vienna, where the "Jazbaa" actress will join the team.

Produced by Dharma Productions, "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" is being touted as a complicated love story. The buzz is that apart from Ranbir and Anushka's romance, the audience will see Ranbir and Aishwarya's chemistry as well.

The film is being speculated to be about a man falling in love with a woman who is elder to him.

Apart from Fawad, the movie also stars another Pakistani actor, Imran Abbas Naqvi, who is slated to play Anushka's love interest.

It will reportedly also feature Sunny Leone in a cameo role and is slated to be released in October 2016.
