Dulquer Salmaan's "Charlie," which released on Dec. 24, has been doing astounding business at the box offices in India as well as abroad, even after almost two months of its release. Dulquer's performance in the Martin Prakkat directorial is said to be his best in a career spanning four years.
Recently, the Tamil remake rights of "Charlie" were purchased by Prateek Chakravorty and Shruti Nallappa, who are planning to produce the upcoming flick under the banner of Pramod Films. The details on the cast and crew of the remake movie has not been revealed as yet and are expected to be out soon.

IBTimes India had recently conducted a poll asking "Will Tamil remake of Charlie repeat success of Dulquer Salmaan starrer?" Looking at the poll result, it is evident that many movie-goers feel that the upcoming movie would be successful only if Dulquer stars in it. About 44.44 percent fans believe that only Dulquer can repeat the magic of the Martin Prakkat directorial.
Meanwhile, almost 27.78 percent of the audience have asked the makers not to remake the movie in Tamil and 22.22 percent predict that the movie will not make a mark at the Tamil Nadu box office. Only 5.56 percent of the audience believe that the remake version will repeat the success of the original version, starring Dulquer and Parvathy.
It has to be noted that of late many Malayalam movies, including Mohanlal starrer "Drishyam," Anjali Menon's directorial venture "Bangalore Days" and Manju Warrier's "How Old Are You," have been made in other languages. However, only a few could repeat the success of the original versions. The remake versions of blockbuster movies "Premam" and "Ennu Ninte Moideen" will also be soon released in other languages. If the Tamil version of "Charlie" and other Malayalam flicks repeat box office records is something we need to wait and watch.
"Charlie" revolves around the story of a mysterious young man named Charlie (played by Dulquer) who leads a carefree life and catches the fancy of a crazy girl Tessa (played by Parvathy) for being the favourite of everyone he comes across in life. How Tessa meets Charlie through many people is what the movie narrates.
