The famous wax museum Madame Tussauds will soon make its debut in India. The first wax attraction will open in New Delhi in 2017, according to the officials.
"Merlin Entertainments Plc is announcing its first business in India -- a Madame Tussauds wax attraction scheduled to open in New Delhi in early 2017," a joint statement issued by the two sides after talks between Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and David Cameron read.
"Merlin is also looking to roll out several more of its iconic global 'Midway' attraction brands such as Sea Life and Legoland Discovery Centres in key cities across India, and expects to invest up to 50 million pounds there over the next ten years," the statement added.
This will be the eighth Madame Tussauds wax museum in the Asian region and 21 around the world. Wax sculptor Marie Tussaud founded Madame Tussauds wax museum, which is one of the biggest tourist attractions in London.
The wax museum is spread across the world with six branches in the US, six in Europe, seven in Asia and one in Australia. In Asia, the branches are based in Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Shanghai, Singapore and Wuhan.
The wax museum features the statue of Indian personalities, including Mahatma Gandhi, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Sachin Tendulkar, Katrina Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan among many others.
