At this year's E3, Bethesda not only revealed that the next biggest Fallout game – Fallout 4 – was in the pipeline, but it also released a standalone mobile game that would arrive before the original game, called Fallout Shelter.
Fallout Shelter is basically a new iPhone, iPad and Android game that lets users build and manage a vault from the popular Fallout game. However, that being said, the game is not related to the upcoming Fallout 4, but has already found its way into a host of smartphones across the planet.
If you have been playing Fallout Shelter all this time, we reckon that you might need some help getting on with it. And if that is the scene, here are some new tips, tricks, cheats and strategies for Fallout Shelter.
Fallout Shelter – Cheats, Tips, Tricks and Strategies
The Dwellers are to be Placed in Right Rooms
Make sure your vault dwellers are appointed to their right rooms in the game, boosting efficiency, while also keeping them happy. For that matter, each of the dwellers will come with a specific trait attached to them – Charisma, Strength, Agility, Perception, Intelligence and Luck. Players can also drag any dweller from room to room to see where they will fit best.
Call Back Exploring Dwellers When Loot is Collected
Keep a close check on all your exploring dwellers who are out there in the wastelands. Call them back at once when their health is reduced or they hit upon some loot. The longer they stay outside, chances are that they will perish.
Keep Upgrading the Rooms
At the start of the game, you may not have the access to build a sprawling underground vault instantly, but you can always upgrade your pre-existing rooms for better output, apart from helping you to maintain a growing population. You can tap on a room and then on the upgrade arrow in the upper right to upgrade. This also shows you the cost and the increased output and storage.
Maintain the Health of the Vault Door
If you have enough bottle caps on you, make sure you first buff up your underground vault door. If the vault door is ever compromised, it will allow raiders to move into the settlement, kill most of your dwellers and halt any kind of progress you may have thus far in the game.
Everyone Must Remain Happy
One of the main ways to ensure top output and productivity is to keep all the dwellers happy. Players can check their dwellers' overall happiness score in the upper left side of the screen. Players can manage happiness by keeping resources stacked above the minimum, appointing dwellers jobs they like and by giving them breaks in lounges or in the living quarters.
The Dwellers Have to be Fully Prepared
Dwellers who move out of the vault have to be extra protective, and players need to make sure they are fully equipped every time they head out of the vault. So if you come across resources meant to buff up your dwellers, select the ones that are less equipped than the others. Also make sure you have a good supply of RadAway and Stimpaks.
Get More Dwellers
There are three ways to get more dwellers. You can either invite those in who show up randomly at your door, or you can put a man and a woman in the living quarters and wait for them to make sweet love (you know what we mean). The third option is to create a radio station that can call in dwellers who hear your messages.
Get Lunchboxes and Caps for Free
You can earn free Fallout Shelter caps and free lunchboxes full of items, gear and resources just by taking care of the current objectives. Just tap the radio and then the small award looking icon to see the current objectives. While some will only offer free caps as a reward, others will deliver a free lunchbox stuffed with good items.
Stay tuned for more updates.
