Former Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam passed away on Monday after he collapsed during a lecture at IIM Shillong.
Meanwhile, a photo has been doing the rounds on social media claiming as the last moment of the former President. However, the photo is said to be a file photo, which was taken when he slipped during an award function of Sangeet Natak Academy, eight years back.

As per the official press release from Bethany Hospital, Kalam was brought to the hospital in Shillong at 7 pm and was pronounced dead at 7:45 pm on Monday.
"He was received in the emergency room and on arrival, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam showed no spontaneous respiration, no pulse, BP not recordable, pupils fixed and dilated. Incubation was done immediately and CPR started. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit immediately for furthur resuscitation. All efforts were made but Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam could not be revived," the official statement of the hopsital read.

Sources close to the hospital told IBTimes India that Kalam's body had been shifted to an Army hospital near Shillong and will be taken to Guwahati via helicopter at 5am. From there, his mortal remains will be taken to New Delhi by flight.
