It has been a very busy week for Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg. On Friday, Zuckerberg took his company public and Saturday he changed his relationship status on Facebook to "married."
Zuckerberg married his longtime girlfriend Priscilla Chan at a small ceremony in their backyard Saturday. The 28-year-old placed a ring on Chan's finger in a small ceremony which was attended by less than 100 guests in Palo Alto, California.
Apparently the ring was designed by Zuckerberg himself, featuring "a very simple ruby sparkler."
The guests previously thought that they were attending a surprise party to celebrate Chan's graduation from UCSF medical school, but they were informed about the wedding after they arrived at the event.
According to People Magazine, the newlywed couple had been planning their wedding for more than four months.
Tens of thousands of people "liked" his new "married" status, which was accompanied by a photo of the couple in their wedding dress, Reuters reported.
For the wedding, Zuckerberg wore a suit leaving his trademark hoodie at home while his beautiful bride wore a traditional wedding dress.
The food was ordered from the couple's favorite restaurants, Palo Alto Sol and Fuki Sush.
Zuckerberg met Priscilla Chan at a party put on by his fraternity and they began dating in 2003.
"The timing wasn't tied to the IPO, since the date the company planned to go public was a moving target," a guest authorized to speak for the couple told Associated Press.
