Facebook's official announcement to host the Android event on 4 April led many to believe that the social network giant would launch a new mobile OS of its own similar to Google's Android.
However, on the very next day Wall Street Journal revealed that Facebook would in fact launch an Android based 'Facebook Home' app, not an overhauled mobile OS as speculated.
The Wall Street Journal report also claimed that Facebook's new software based on Android mobile OS displays "contents from user's Facebook account on a smartphone's home screens-the first screen visible when they turn on the device."
Now, new details have emerged that the Facebook Home app will soon make its way to Google Play store as the standalone Facebook UI (User-interface) kind of application will be capable of switching off the smartphone's lock screen, control Wi-Fi settings and change the system settings as well.
As far as HTC Facebook smartphone 'Myst' is concerned, it is still is expected to make its debut with new the Facebook software since the social network giant is most likely to demonstrate its flagship app on the Myst smartphone. When the Facebook Home app makes its way to Google Play app store, it will soon be available to other Android smartphones as well.
