Lay, a member of SM Entertainment's Chinese-South Korean boy band EXO, will reportedly share screen space with Indian actor Jackie Shroff and his son Tiger Shroff in the upcoming film "Kung Fu Yoga".
While the character details of the Kpop star are kept under wraps, the 58-year-old Indian actor will portray a Chinese archaeologist who investigates the relationship between King Bimbisara from the Magadh era and Gautam Buddha.
The movie, directed by Stanley Tong, might take the relationship between India and China to new heights. It is part of the three-film agreement signed by the two countries during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to India last September.
As the title suggests, "Kung Fu Yoga" focuses on the ancient Indian art Yoga and Chinese martial art Kungfu. The movie will be co-produced by Chinese firms Taihe Entertainment and Shinework Media in collaboration with Indian media company Viacom18 Motion Pictures.
The filming of the Indo-Chinese movie will apparently begin by the end of September or towards the first week of October in various parts of the world, including South Korea, China, Spain and Dubai.
Meanwhile, it has not been officially confirmed if Lay will visit India for the production process, but Jackie Shroff has teased about it recently. "I am planning to start a new movie called Kung Fu Yoga. So, I will be returning to film it in India. Hopefully, we will start filming in autumn," Destination K-Pop quoted him as saying.
Other cast members to appear in the movie include Chinese action star Jackie Chan, Hong Kong born Chinese-Canadian actor Aarif Rahman and Ming Hu.
