ASUS has launched eight ZenFone 2 smartphone models around the world and are likely to launch one more ZenFone 2 model soon.
We spotted the new ZenFone 2 model at import-export website Zauba.com.
Last month, ASUS has shipped 2 devices to Bangalore, India, from the US for testing purpose. The device reached India on 2 June.
Unlike other ZenFone 2 models, the spotted edition carries an X (X551ML) instead of Z, visible in other ZenFone 2 models.
The Zenfone 2 smartphones are available at a price ranging from ₹12,999 to ₹29,999 to cater to different conusmer segments.
Depending upon price, the available ZenFone 2 models differ in screen resolution (720p vs 1080p), processing power, RAM specification (2GB vs 4GB) and storage capability (16GB vs 128GB). Running on Android 5.0 Lollipop, all the ZenFone 2 variants come with 3000 mAh battery and a camera combination of 13+5MP.
Recently, ASUS launched four other ZenFone 2 models at the Asian Consumer Electronics Trade Fair, Computex 2015, Taipei. Unlike previous ZenFone 2 models, the variants launched at Computex feature display across 5 inches to 6 inches. The newly launched ZenFone 2 model ships with Snapdragon processor instead of the common Atom processor and equips Laser Auto-focus feature with the rear camera.
Coming back to the spotted model X551ML, the product carries a unit value of ₹29,970, which means the upcoming device will be positioned at the higher-end smartphone category.
The flagship model of ZenFone 2, ZE551ML6JWW, listed at Flipkart for ₹29,999 but is not yet available. Since the only difference between these two models is the beginning character of the model number (X, against ZE), we assume it might be the same ZE551ML smartphone or a Snapdragon variant of the same.
The ZenFone 2 ZE551ML6JWW boasts of a 5.5-inch display with 1080x1920 pixels resolution. Running on Android 5.0 Lollipop, the smartphone is powered by a 2.3GHz Intel Atom Z3580 quad-core processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 128GB built-in storage.
