Just days after Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor congratulated her cousin Mohit Marwah on his upcoming movie "Raag Desh," a reliable source close to the industry has confirmed to International Business Times India that a Malayalam actress has been roped in for the female lead in it.
Mollywood actress Mrudula Murali, who was last seen in "Shikhamani," will play the role of a real life character in the upcoming period drama. With the latest news, seems like Mrudula is all set to make a mark in Bollywood, as the upcoming film is the directorial venture of Tigmanshu Dhulia, who has helmed critically acclaimed films such as "Paan Singh Tomar" and "Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster," among others.
With this, another actress is stepping into the Hindi entertainment industry and joining the league of talented actresses like Asin, Sreedevi and Trisha, among others. Mrudula, who is a familiar face for Malayalam television audience as the child anchor of phone-in programme "Dial & See" on Jeevan TV, made her acting debut in Mollywood in the Mohanlal-starrer "Red Chilles" in 2009. Recently, she also played the lead role in Vineeth Kumar's debut directorial venture "Ayal Njanalla."
It is understood that "Raag Desh" will be based on the Indian National Army trials (INA trials), which has already drawn national attention throughout the country. The socially-committed movie is also rumoured to have Kunal Kapoor and many other biggies and foreign actors apart from renowned crew members. The team is said to have been doing the pre-production work of the movie for more than a year. The source has also confirmed to IBTimes India that the film will go on floors by the end of this month.
