Superstar Salman Khan could possibly be seen with his former flame Katrina Kaif in the upcoming film "Kick."
The Sajid Nadiadwala film actually features Jacqueline Fernandez in the female lead opposite Salman and there is undoubtedly no change in the film's cast. But Kaif could step in for a special item song which will also have the 48-year-old actor.
"When the discussion over who'd be cast alongside Salman in the promotional song came up, the entire unit (of 'Kick'), including Sajid, agreed that Katrina would be the perfect choice," a source revealed to Hindustan Times.
While Nadiadwala, who has also signed Kaif in his next production "Phantom" with Saif Ali Khan, is quite keen to rope in the actress for the special song but the final call on the song would be taken only if Salman agrees to share screen space with his ex flame again.
The song will reportedly be shot in mid-June and a formal announcement on it will be made accordingly.
Both Kaif and Salman had last worked together in Kabir Khan's blockbuster film "Ek Tha Tiger" in 2012.
Previously too, Kaif had appeared for a similar promotional song in the superstar's film "Bodyguard" (2011). The film starred Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead, but the title track featuring Kaif had become quite popular.
It appears that the makers of "Kick" are keen to repeat the same formula. Plus getting Salman and Kaif together onscreen in itself would be a delight for the audience.
It should be pointed out that earlier this year, reports had carried that Salman was unwilling to share screen space with Kaif again in Kabir Khan's another project. Hence the director is said be on the look out for another female lead rather than his favourite Kaif with whom he has worked in three back-to-back films "New York" (2009), "Ek Tha Tiger" and "Phantom" (under production).
But Kabir when asked on the Salman-Kaif tension, had denied the reports and tried to assure that a different actress was being sought for the film since Kaif did not suit the part.
Kaif and Salman, who were dating at one point, are said to have fallen apart after the actress broke up and started seeing actor Ranbir Kapoor.
It remains to be seen whether the "Jai Ho" star gives nod to Kaif's presence in "Kick"s song or insists on sharing the screen with a different actress.
Meanwhile, if one recalls, the above mentioned special song of "Kick" was earlier reported to have been offered to Deepika Padukone. Reports had hinted that the actress was considering her options on starring in the Salman song. And days ago reports emerged that the actress had refused the song due to her loyalty towards Salman's arch rival Shah Rukh Khan with whom she is presently working on "Happy New Year."
It was already assumed that the "Chennai Express" actress would be in a difficult situation because of the Salman - Shah Rukh factor. Even though the pretty actress had previously expressed her desire to work with the "Dabanng" star in future, by the looks of it, it seems that the audience would have to wait longer to see Salman-Padukone come together onscreen.
