2. Karnataka refuses to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu in defiance of Supreme Court order
The Karnataka Assembly on Friday took a decision that would limit the use of Cauvery water in the state, thereby setting up a confrontation with the Supreme Court in this regard. A unit of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), set up especially for liaisons with the film fraternity, on Friday threatened Pakistani artistes working in India with physical violence, and gave them a two-day deadline to leave the country.
