American actress Eva Mendes, who recently launched a new clothing line, posted a throwback picture on Instagram, revealing her first red carpet look.
In the picture, the "2 Fast 2 Furious" star is seen wearing a $6 shirtdress from Goodwill to "The Others" premiere in LA.
The 41-year-old captioned the 2001 snap as: "The debut of my latest @nyandcompany collection has me throwing back to my first red carpet. I did my own hair and makeup, and that's a $6 dress from Goodwill. I've always loved a cheap find. Viva thrift shops! #tbt"
Mendes told PEOPLE while designing her New York & Company collections that she takes inspiration from her own wardrobe, which includes multiple thrift pieces "A lot of it is from my closet, a lot of it is stuff I pick up along the way." "I love stopping in to, a Goodwill or a Salvation Army — it's so much fun for me to just stop in quickly, and I feel like I'm an archaeologist at that point. I can feel when there's a little something, you know, where there's gold in the hills, and I really zero in. That's the fun part for me," Mendes said.
The mother-of-one has made some amazing appearances on the Red Carpet over the years, but the Instagram picture reveals that even Hollywood stars enjoy the thrill of shopping at thrift stores.
After welcoming daughter Esmeralda Amada, in September 12, 2014, with boyfriend Ryan Gosling, Mendes launched her wedding collection label with "New York & Company", which features frocks in pale blue, light yellow and blush pink. The dresses are priced between $79 and $119.
