Louis Van Gaal and Manchester United were handed a relatively kind tie in the round of 32 of the Europa League, after drawing Danish side FC Midtjylland.
Having dropped down to the Europa League after only managing to finish third in their Champions League group, Manchester United could have drawn some of the bigger Spanish sides in the tournament – Gary Neville's Valencia being one of those -- or even Borussia Dortmund, but they will be relatively satisfied with playing last 32 debutants Midtjylland.
"Miracles have happened before, and we will probably need one again," Midtjylland manager Jess Thorup told UEFA's official website. "However, we do not just lie down.
"We deserved to qualify for the round of 32, and we aim to prove that to ourselves and to our opponents."
Liverpool were not handed a dream Borussia Dortmund matchup, but it is a German team that Jurgen Klopp will have to guide his team past, having drawn Augsburg.
The third English Premier League club in the round of 32 of the Europa League – Tottenham – were handed a difficult tie against Serie A side Fiorentina, who eliminated them from this competition at the same stage last season.
The defending champions Sevilla will play Molde, with Neville's new Valencia team facing off against Rapid Wien. One of the ties of the round of 32 is Dortmund vs FC Porto, two Champions League-calibre sides slugging it out in the Europa League.
