Actress Esha Deol, who tied the knot with fiancé Bharat Takhtani on Friday, is still in celebration mood. The couple will hold a grand wedding reception at a suburban five-star hotel on Saturday, and people from political arena and film industry are expected to attend the gala night.
The couple, who got engaged in February this year, exchanged wedding vows as per Hindu tradition in the presence of family members and relatives at Mumbai's Iskon Temple. The ceremony was done in a traditional South Indian style.
The wedding reception marks the end of four-day grand celebrations. The big-fat wedding ceremony began on Monday with a star-studded sangeet ceremony held at Mumbai's Hotel Lalit Intercontinental followed by the haldi and mehendi parade.
Unlike the sangeet ceremony, the haldi, mehendi and wedding were more of a private affair which was attended only by close friends and relatives. Esha's parents, veteran actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini, welcomed the groom and other guests at the temple entrance with flowers.
Hema, looking gorgeous in vibrant orange and green Kanjivaram sari, said: "The whole wedding ceremony went excellent, there is some small change in the rituals otherwise all Hindu rituals are the same. The wedding ceremony was completed on time."
Sister Ahana Deol and Cousin Abhay Doel along with girlfriend Preeti Desai were also present at the ceremony.
"It's a very happy occasion and I am very much happy for Esha and all of us. I am happy that she is getting settled," Abhay told reporters.
Other B-town celebrities, who attended the occasion, includes Amitabh Bachchan with son Abhishek, Rani Mukherji, Manoj Kumar with his wife and son, Vinod Khanna with wife, Vyjayanthimala, Ramesh Sippy and his wife, Fardeen Khan, Poonam Sinha with his twin sons - Luv and Kush, Madhoo, Anu Malik and designer Neeta Lulla and her daughter Nishka.
However, Esha's step-brothers Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol did not attend the wedding ceremony.
