Eros International Media has said that it will be releasing 65 films this year in six languages, including Hindi, buoyed by the success of its 2015 releases that included "Bajirao Mastani", "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" and "Bajrangi "Bhaijaan".
Prominent releases in 2016 include R. Balki's "Ki & Ka", starring Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan, "c", "Aligarh", "Do Lafzon ki Kahani" and "Dishoom", the company said in a regulatory filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Monday.
Sunil Lulla, CEO of Eros, said the slew of releases will "strengthen" the company's presence in the burgeoning entertainment business in India.
"We are at an exciting phase...and have an equally promising slate coming up that will reinforce and further strengthen our leadership position in the Indian media and entertainment industry," he said.
"Bajirao Mastani" featuring Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone is among the top 10 highest Bollywood overseas box office earners of all time. It had earned over Rs 359 crore till its fifth weekend worldwide.
"Dilwale", which was released on the same day as "Bajirao Mastani" and featured Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon, grossed Rs 375 crore worldwide at the box office at the end of its fifth weekend. The film was distributed by Shah Rukh's production house, Red Chillies Entertainment.
Eros International Media, part of Eros International Plc, acquires, co-produces and distributes Indian movies.
The Eros International Media stock closed at Rs 180 on the BSE on Monday, up 3.44% from its previous close.
Meanwhile, of the two Hindi films released last Friday, Akshay Kumar-Nimrata Kaur-starrer "Airlift" has done better business at the box office than "Kya Kool Hain Hum 3".
"Airlift" has collected Rs 44.30 crore in its opening weekend and is expected to do well on Tuesday, Republic Day.
Ekta Kapoor's "Kya Kool Hain Hum 3", starring Tusshar Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani and Bigg Boss 9 contestant Mandana Karimi, has earned Rs 21.65 crore in its opening weekend.
