The film "Buguri" starring Golden star Ganesh had been in the news for the confusions regarding the star casts of the film. In the latest news, actress Erica Fernandes is said to be roped in to play one of the heroines of the M.D.Shridhar directorial along with Richa Panai.
"Buguri" made news in the tabloids when the heroine of the film was changed twice. Initially, the team announced Vedika as the heroine. She later backed out of the film due to date clashes. While the shooting was in progress, the team announced actress Arundhati as the replacement for Vedika. She was later dropped out of the film and the reason is still unknown. Finally, the team announced Richa Panai as one of the leading ladies of the film.

Erica Fernandes, a model turned actress made her entry into films with the Tamil Film "Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu" directed by Sasi in 2013. She made her debut in Kannada through "Ninnindale" in 2013 opposite Puneeth Rajkumar. The film was directed by Jayanth. C. Paranjee and she played the character of Pramila in the film. "Buguri" is Fernandes' third Kannada film after "Airavatha" opposite Darshan. The actress is expected to join "Buguri" team by 24 July.
Expectations are high for the Shridhar directorial. His last film "Bulbul," which was a remake of the Telugu film "Darling" was a super hit. The film had Darshan, Ambareesh and Rachitha Ram in the lead roles. This is the third time Shridhar and Ganesh have joined together for a film. Ganesh's first film "Chellata" was directed by the former and their second film "Krishna" starring Pooja Gandhi and Sharmila Mandre was a hit. With "Buguri," they are joining together after a gap of six years. The film is also Ganesh's 25th film and is scripted and produced by the director itself and the music is done by Mickey J Meyer.
