Manchester United could land a huge deal in the January transfer window as Real Madrid look to create funds to sign Edinson Cavani in the January transfer window.
With a transfer ban handed out to Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid for the next two transfer windows, starting with the one in the summer, the Los Blancos will be keen to sign a couple of big players in January.
While Real Madrid are expected to appeal the ban, they will also want to make a few safety signings, and Cavani is seen as one of them. However, in order to make the Cavani signing, Real Madrid will need to sell someone, and that someone is Toni Kroos, according to A Bola.
Manchester United were heavily linked with a move for Kroos before the Germany international signed for Real Madrid from Bayern Munich in a cut-price fee in 2014. While Louis Van Gaal has bolstered his midfield since then, with the signings of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin, Kroos will add more quality to the United midfield.
And with Real Madrid reportedly ready to sell the 26-year-old, Manchester United should not hesitate to offer the £40m fee the Spanish giants are reportedly asking.
Manchester United are expected to make major moves again next summer, with the likes of Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, James Rodriguez and Neymar linked. However, with the club still struggling for fluency and form this season, bringing in a player of Kroos' quality might not be such a bad idea, even with Van Gaal having plenty of options in that position.
Kroos is the kind of player that can dictate the pace of play, and ping in those passes to make a side tick. With Schweinsteiger looking a little heavy-legged, bringing in another German, who has won pretty much every title there is to win, and is still only entering his prime, should be a no-brainer.
