Manchester United are in dire need of players who can score goals. The Red Devils have scored 24 goals in their last 20 matches, and that is definitely not a nice stat.
As the January transfer window is open, United will be looking to flex their economic muscles. They have been eyeing Sadio Mane of Southmpton for quite some time now, and are keen on completing a £62.5-million transfer.
Mane might just be the solution Louis Van Gaal has been looking for. His ability to thread the defence line and find the back of the net every now and then has made him United's primary target in the transfer window.
Van Gaal bought himself some more time at the Old Trafford after a win over Swansea City in their last English Premier League (EPL) game on Saturday. Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney scored for the Red Devils to hand them the much-needed three points.
Van Gaal admitted a couple of days ago he might have been wrong in offloading so many strikers at once. Radamel Falcao, Robin Van Persie and Javier Hernandez were sold in the last transfer window.
Mane scored 10 goals in the last season, and has already scored six in the current edition of the EPL. His eye for goal would give the Red Devils a major boost if at all this deal is completed.
Luring Mane away from St Mary's will be a tough job, as their manager Ronald Koeman is not ready to let go of the 23-year-old Senegal international at any cost. Koeman had said even if someone was ready to pay £100 million, we would not sell Mane.
But according to ESPN FC, there would be talks about this whopping deal. Mane's transfer fee would be £30 million. Another £32.5 million would have to be added to the fee following wages of £125,000.
Mane has also been linked with two other Premier League giants — Chelsea and Liverpool — in this ongoing transfer window. It will indeed be a good acquisition if United pull off this deal this Jaunary. Van Gaal will get enough assistance from the Club in order to rope in his desired players, who can turn the wheels of fortune for United.
