It's been only a few days since Sony completed Android 5.0.2 Lollipop to all its Xperia Z series devices, now the company is ready with new v5.1 firmware to be rolled out to all the smartphones next month.
"We're excited to confirm that we'll be upgrading those products (all Xperia Z series smartphones), as well as Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3 to Android 5.1, starting from July," states the official Sony Mobile Blog.
Taking note of other Xperia range smartphone owners' feedback, the company has decided to upgrade the Xperia M2 and its rugged water-proof sibling Xperia M2 Aqua, which run on 4.4 KitKat OS, directly to Android 5.1 Lollipop OS soon after the Xperia Z series devices get the new firmware.
This news not only brings cheers to Xperia Z series device owners, it will also help Sony develop loyalty among fans and sway some more consumers into its fold.
It is learnt that v5.1 Lollipop will bring bug-fixes and optimisations to improve performance of the devices.
List of Sony devices confirmed to get the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop update include Xperia Z3, Z2, Xperia Z Ultra GPE (Google Play Edition), Xperia Z, Xperia ZR, Xperia ZL, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1s, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z3 (T-Mobile), Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet, Xperia Tablet Z, and Xperia Z2 Tablet, T2 Ultra, Xperia C3, M2 and M2 Aqua.
