Enthiran star Rajinikanth off to US for health check-up

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth left for the United States recently for a health check-up. The actor is said to have been accompanied by a close aide of the family.

Rajinikanth was earlier reported to have undergone a kidney-related treatment in the US a few months ago. His daughter Aishwarya Dhanush was with him during the visit. Now the actor, who ahs recovered from the ailment, is on a visit for a follow-up medical check-up.

The superstar was advised rest after returning to Chennai from the US. He only restarted working on his much-hyped 2.0 aka Enthiran 2 in September. Rajinikanth completed the talkie portions of the film before leaving for the US, Deccan Chronicle reported.

2.0 was launched in December 2015, and the shooting started subsequently. The film has been primarily shot at a set erected at EVP World on the outskirts of Chennai. It has been filmed in Chennai, New Delhi and many other places, including Ukraine, where a song was shot.

Earlier this month, director Shankar had revealed that more than half of the shooting had been completed in 150 days. After completing the latest schedule, Amy Jackson recently tweeted, "Rise and Grind! Last day on set for this schedule with @shankarshanmugh and then back to Mumbai [sic]."

Following the completion of the shooting, the unit of the film will head for an extensive post-production schedule. The VFX part is expected to consume a lot of time.

Lyca Productions is bankrolling 2.0 with the estimated budget of Rs 350 crore, which makes it the most expensive film made in India until now. Rajinikanth will be seen in the lead role, while Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar plays an antagonist named Dr Richard. The film stars Sudhanshu Pandey, Adil Hussain and others in the supporting cast.

2.0 is being simultaneously made in Tamil and Telugu. The film will be dubbed in Hindi. The movie features AR Rahman's music, Nirav Shah's cinematography and Anthony's editing.
