England will be taking on Australia in the third One-Day International (ODI) at Old Trafford in Manchester on Tuesday.
Australia have gone 2-0 up in the series already and they would be looking to seal it with a third straight win over Eoin Morgan-led new look English side.
When it comes to flexing the muscles in the 50-over format, Australia always tries to be at their prime best and that is exactly what they have done in the ongoing ODI series against England. The Aussies have surely announced their comeback in the tour after yet another Ashes series loss on the English soil. They also lost the one-off T20 match, which was played at Cardiff last week.
Steve Smith & co. have turned the wheels of fortune brilliantly in the first two ODIs. They have won both the one dayers quite comfortably and now they would be looking for the third one in a row and sink the rising English ship.
England had gone under a rapid transformation under the leadership of Eoin Morgan in the past few months after the ICC World Cup 2015. They outclassed the upbeat New Zealand side in the month of July in the ODIs as well. But things have not started with the way they would have wanted it to be against the Aussies in the series. They will have to play their best game to overpower the in-form Australian side. It would require something special from Morgan and his men in blue to come back from 2-0 down in this series.
Team news:
England: Jos Buttler has been replaced by Jonny Bairstow for the remainder of the series. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) selectors have decided to rest the former and give Bairstow a shot against the mighty Aussies.
"While we initially felt Jos would have enough left in the tank for this ODI series, it has become clear in the last couple of days that he will benefit from a break from cricket ahead of the winter tours. Resting players provide opportunities for others in the international arena and Jonny Bairstow now has a chance to build on the one day form he showed at the end of the New Zealand series earlier this summer," England coach Trevor Bayliss told reporters ahead of the third ODI against Australia.
David Willey might also get a chance to feature in the playing XI in the third ODI after his impressive bowling stats in the T20 match against Australia.
Australia: David Warner, Shane Watson and Nathan Coulter-Nile will not be featuring in the tour anymore after sustaining injuries. This could be a major blow for the Aussies who have looked in real good form.
John Hastings (all-rounder) and Peter Handscomb have got their calls to replace Watson and Warner respectively.
