Siddharth starrer "Enakkul Oruvan" has opened to a decent response at the US box office. The Tamil movie has made ₹15.31 lakh in its first weekend.
Among Indian movies, South movies dominaed the the US box office. Telugu movie "Surya Vs Surya" remained top film as it earned ₹22.64 lakh ($36,177) from 74 screens. "Enakkul Oruvan" earned second spot by raking in ₹15.31 lakh ($24,460) from 35 screens.
The response for the Siddharth starrer film was better than many other movies even though it was released in on 35 screens. The other South movies that still had shows last weekend was "Kaaki Sattai", which has made a total of ₹39.08 lakh and Telugu movie "Malli Malli Idi Rani Roju", which has collected ₹43.08 lakh so far.
However, the business made by Siddharth's movie is lesser than his recent films "Jigarthanda, which had made ₹71.91 lakh from 20 screens, and "Kaaviya Thalaivan", which had collected ₹42.04 lakh from 35 screens, in the opening weekend. The two films had made notable business at the UK box office and a few other centres.
Coming to domestic box office, "Enakkul Oruvan" has done reasonably well at domestic box office. The Tamil movie has earned over ₹2.5 crore in the state as per trade reports. In Chennai, the Tamil movie has made about ₹35 lakh.
"Enakkul Oruvan" is a remake of hit Kannada movie "Lucia". The Tamil movie stars Siddharth, Deepa Sanidhi and Srushti Dange in the key roles. The film is directed by Prasad Ramar and produced by CV Kumar. It has Santhosh Narayan's music and Gopi Amarnath's cinematography with Leo JohnPaul handling the editing department.
The film has got good reviews from the audience and critics, who have praised the film with rich words. It is now banking on the positive word-of-mouth.
