In an episode of "Koffee with Karan", Emraan Hashmi labeled Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as plastic. But, looks like the actor's intentions were not evil.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Hashmi revealed that he only wanted to win the tempting hamper Karan Johar's show had to offer and had no interest in demeaning anyone.
"I didn't mean it. I'm a big fan of Aishwarya. It's the format of the show. I cannot not say things and not win the hamper. I love her. I have always been a great admirer of her work," he said and added that he was sure of the matter going through the roof.
In the episode, Hashmi was invited along with his uncle Mahesh Bhatt. And, the two took immense liberty in taking digs at industry people. While Aamir Khan was tagged as "boring", Salman Khan was named the "macho man".
However, in all of the fun and thrill, the uncle-nephew duo didn't realise their casual statements would be held against them. Defending their answers on the show, Bhatt said the comments were made in jest and are not to be taken seriously.
"Does this nation have no sense of humour? Or is the nation awed by their non-existent greatness? 'Koffee with Karan' is a lighthearted show on which you are asked frivolous questions, which you are expected to answer honestly. People have an opinion about Emraan and me, ditto for us. But this is all in context of the show," Mumbai Mirror quoted the veteran filmmaker.
When asked if the artiste in question would be humiliated by their remarks, he quickly retorted that if they were true artistes they wouldn't be hurt because "real artistes demolish themselves before anybody else demolishes them."
Meanwhile, Hashmi will be next seen in Johar's "Ungli" alongside Kangana Ranaut and Randeep Hooda, and Aishwarya has signed Sanjay Gupta's thriller "Jazbaa".
