The cast and crew of "Empire" season 2 are all set to entertain fans with new twists and turns in Lucious Lyon's life from 23 September, Additionally, the Fox series will also line up a new set of guest stars and their music numbers.
The music drama will apparently begin with Cookie Lyon (Taraji P Henson) and her three children -- (Andre Lyon (Trai Byers), Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) and Hakeem Lyon (Bryshere Y Gray) -- trying to bring the hip hop mogul out of jail. The family will organise a concert with the title "#FreeLucious".
Executive Producer Lee Daniels recently stated that the upcoming season will explore the impact of success on a person's life. "There's fashion! Sex! Intrigue! Fights! Catfights with weave pulling and pearls dripping to the floor! Bloodshed! And more sex! People will love the show even more," he told Vanity Fair.
The creator even revealed that Oprah Winfrey will not be a part of the show due to her busy schedule. "Oprah has her own television show [Queen Sugar] that she's doing and acting in, so that became problematic with our schedule. She really wanted to do the show, but she's going to be on next season for sure," he said.

Official Synopsis: Still in a federal lock-up, Lucious is trying to run Empire from inside, while a headline-grabbing state prosecutor hangs her political ambitions on bringing him down - no matter what it takes. Meanwhile, Cookie stages a star-studded #FreeLucious concert in his support, while scheming with Andre, Hakeem, Anika and the business savvy Mimi Whiteman (guest star Marisa Tomei) to finalise the hostile takeover of Empire.
Game of Thrones: The upcoming sequel will take viewers to a war for the thrones wherein Henson's character will try her best to inherit the throne before her ex-husband returns from jail. The actress previously teased that Lucious' outspoken ex-wife will return to her more ruthless beginnings. "At the core of who she is, she knows he won't be in there long. He has money, he has lawyers, he has people," she added.
