On Monday rumour surfaced that Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi got into an ugly brawl before a charity event they were supposed to attend. It is reported that couple had to back out of the event following the fight.
The couple was suppose to attend L.A. pet rescue centre Saving Spot but they didn't show up much to the disappointment of the guests, according to reports.
"Ellen and Portia were delayed and were in the car on the way when they had an epic fight. They ended up turning around and not going to the fundraiser," said Page Six in its report.
However, the claimed in a statement that they were never invited to the event after rumours of fight went rampant in the media.
"We were happy to lend our names as honorary chairs and the organization was always aware that we would be unable to attend. This is the first time we have seen our images attached to the invite. It was not approved and it is misleading," DeGeneres and de Rossi told E! News.
However, a source told the website that the couple agreed two months ago that they would attend the event but later informed the organisers that they couldn't turn up. It added that they were supposed to be "co-chairs and approved an early draft of an invite" before changing the plan. DeGeneres' assistant once again told the owner of Spot! pet shop in the morning of the event that they wouldn't attend.
It may be recalled that the couple has been plagued by rumours of marital problem though not confirmed. It was reported on several occasions that they would part ways but the popular talk show host has always maintained that she and Rossi share a blissful relationship.
DeGeneras is known for supporting numerous charity organisations and has won awards for her works. She has lend her support to organization called "The Gentle Bar" which treats and helps animals. She also initiated "Small Change Campaign" to benefit Feeding America with Ben Affleck , according to reports by Looktothestars.
