K. Padmarajan has fought 171 elections over the last 29 years but has never won any. He recently filed his nomination for the upcoming Presidential polls.
In the last 29 years, Padmarajan from Salem in Tamil Nadu has contested elections across India. His name is listed in the Limca Book of Records (2004, 2014 and 2015) for being the "most unsuccessful election candidate."
He contests elections not to win, but to create a record. His efforts have cost nearly Rs 20 lakh in election deposits. He does not spend a single penny campaigning; but every time he contests an election, he prays that he loses it.
The 57-year-old received schooling till Class 8 and runs a business in selling tyres. He also claims to be a homoeopathic doctor. But, he only provides his medical services to Sabarimala Temple in Kerala.
