Writer EL James' latest book "Grey", told from the standpoint of "Fifty Shades of Grey" male lead Christian Grey, was released on Thursday. James chose to release the book on 18 June to mark Christian Grey's birthday.
Christian doesn't hold back when it comes to sex, and based on Twitter reactions the new instalment is raunchier than the previous ones. But at the same time fans also get to see a different side of the character's personality, someone who is not totally sure of himself.
Sadly, not everyone is happy with the book, and a good number of fans have accused the author of rehashing the same story. "So a new 50 Shades of Grey but told from the dudes perspective aka this woman is bout to make tons of money rewriting the same book again," one fan asked on Twitter.
"Are you kidding me? 'Grey' is 50 shades but written from Mr Grey's perspective? Too lazy to write a new book? Ffs...," another comment read. A third reader echoed similar sentiments, tweeting, ''Author' E.L. James rewrote 50 Shades in the perspective of the guy. Lazy writing and what's worse is, it'll sell millions of copies. #ugh."
In the mean time, Entertainment Weekly has compiled a list of ridiculous lines from the latest installment. Here are a few gems:
"Her sharp intake of breath is music to my dick."
"It's a long time since I've seen pubic hair up close and personal like this. I tug it gently. 'Perhaps we'll keep this.' Though it's no good for wax play."
"I drag my hand through my hair, and in as even a tone as I can manage I ask, 'Are you hungry?'/ 'Not for food,' she teases. / Whoa. She might as well be addressing my groin."
"Could I? Could I have a vanilla relationship with Anastasia?"
"I'm confused. I wanted to spank her. But she's said no."
